Residents of Kibera, Nairobi, blocked roads and lit bonfires from as early as 6am to prevent voting on Thursday.
They kept vigil in various parts saying they did not want anybody around.
At the
Olympic Primary School polling station, the people closed the
gates and
blocked the way using carts and rocks.
"Naendelea na kazi kama kawaida.. siwezi piga kura (I am going on with work as is the norm....I cannot vote)," a resident said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto said Jubilee Party was ready for the repeat presidential election but NASA chief Raila Odinga asked his supporters to stay and home.
The Opposition leader announced on Wednesday that the coalition had grown into a resistance movement.
Kibera is one of Raila's strongholds in Nairobi.

Anyang' Nyong'o said yesterday that
Kenyans would be justified to rebel if the repeat presidential election takes place.
The Governor of Kisumu, where the NASA principal also enjoys strong support, said: "If the government subverts the sovereign will of the people...then people are entitled to rebel against this government."
