Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi wants security apparatus in Nyanza to resign over police killings during anti-IEBC demonstrations.

He accused regional coordinator Wilson Njega and police commander Leonard Katana of failing and neglecting to protect residents as required by law.

"[What is] more worrying is the emerging pattern of ethnic profiling targeting members of the Luo community in the ongoing illegal police crackdown in the region. In fact, the current situation bears the hallmarks of genocide in the making. We must put a stop to this," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

"In these circumstances, we demand the immediate resignation of Njega, Katana and all the county commissioners."

He further accused the Jubilee administration of retaining former provincial administrations, against the express conditions of the constitution, "with sinister motives".

Wandayi said officers in those departments should avoid duplication of roles and instead enhance service delivery.
