Police are still camping at the Nairobi home of businessman Jimmy Wanjigi seeking to arrest him after the discovery of weapons at his Malindi home yesterday.

The GSU officers were deployed there last night and spent the night outside the tycoon's compound.

They are led by the head of Flying Squad Saidi Kiprotich and his SCPU colleague Noah Katumo.

Police allegedly found five guns, 93 bullets and a tortoiseshell in the Malindi house.

"We want to interrogate him on the weapons and a tortoiseshell that were found in the house," one of the officers told the Star.

On Monday, NASA leaders visited Wanjigi’s heavily guarded Muthaiga home — across the street from the US Ambassador's residence — and declared the police siege a political act of intimidation.

“There is no basis for police to continue being here as they have no arrest warrant. This is an illegal act pointing to circumstances aimed at trumping up charges,” Siaya Senator James Orengo said.

Wanjigi is a fabulously wealthy and secretive tycoon recently associated with NASA as a financier, but he never funded much of anything and the association reportedly ended.

“Wanjigi is being tormented because of his association with NASA, he is being haunted because he switched to NASA and it appears some quarters are not happy,” Suna East MP Junet Mohamed said.
