The National Super Alliance has called off anti-IEBC protests scheduled for Tuesday.

Raila Odinga's spokesman Dennis Onyango said this is to allow the coalition attend to supporters brutalised and hurt during Monday demos.

"The nationwide protests will resume on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. The Coalition directs all its supporters to stay off the streets tomorrow."

In a statement on Monday, Onyango accused the police and “state-protected goons” of descending on protesters and NASA leaders.

One student was shot dead and his slit throat by police officers quelling demonstrations in Kondele, Kisumu county.

"In the meantime, NASA condemns the unfolding policy of ethnic profiling and use of brutal and lethal force being meted out on protesters," Onyango said.

The coalition appealed to human rights organizations to take a keen interest in the atrocities being committed against its supporters.

Onyango implored upon them to provide necessary support to victims in addition to taking actions commensurate with the crimes.

NASA, in its earlier plan, said it will hold demos every day until IEBC heeds to their irreducible minimums for October 26 vote.

It is not clear whether its leader Raila will take part in the election after he asked his supporters to stay off the ballot.

The ODM leader reiterated this position during a rally in Mombasa at the weekend after he returned from a London trip.
