The National Police Service Commision on Sunday said that it will investigate why police officers are committing suicide.

Police Commissioner Rosemary Kuraru claimed that the officers could be taking their own lives due to personal or work related problems.

"It does not matter what you are going through but do not take your lives using the guns entrusted in your hands", said Kuraru.

Kuraru who spoke during a

thanksgiving service for the uniformed forces in Eldoret said the

officers have different avenues to deal with the challenges they face as opposed to committing suicide.

She said fire arms should only be used in the way prescribed by the law.

"The arms are not meant for you to finish yourselves. They have a purpose prescribed in the law", said Kuraru.

She urged security officers to be each others keeper and help one another in time of need.

"Let us help those we see going through tough situations so that we do not regret when they end up killing themselves", she said.

Kuraru also asked security officers to consider using seeking spiritual intervention to deal with the challenges they go through or seek help from a counselor.

"There is no roblem that our God can not manage. You must also balance your work, family and spiritual life",she said.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno was also present during the ceremony.

He cautioned the public against blaming security officers for their mistakes on grounds that it is

discouraging them.

"We all must change and do things as per the law so that we do not end up always blaming the security officers", said Chemno.
