Kajiado county assembly is today scheduled to vet the executive committee members, secretary and chief officers.

This follows the election of the deputy speaker and the

chairman of the various county assembly committees last Thursday.

Joseph Masiaya (Magadi) was elected for the position of the deputy speaker unopposed after the only other contestant, Lucy Mathenge (nominated) pulled out of the race.

Governor Joseph Ole Lenku had earlier, while naming the appointees to the executive committee, called on the assembly to expedite the vetting process to enable his team kick off service to the people.

Assembly Speaker, Johnson Osoi, on Sunday noted he was pleased with the formation of the committee on appointment.

“The government side and the opposition have supported the constitution of the membership of the committees in the motion that was moved by the Leader of the Majority Party and this sets the pace for the vetting process of the various appointments,” said Osoi.

The speaker, who spoke to Star on phone, also lauded the various parties for ensuring that all the leadership positions were filled on time.

Governor Lenku last Tuesday completed nomination of ten county executive committee members giving three slots to women.

The women include Jackline Koin for Education, Esther Somoire (Health) and Caroline Chege (Public Service).

Michael Semera was picked as the executive committee member for county treasury CECM.
