Six suspected terrorists are being interrogated by detectives to uncover their entire support network both in Kenya and Somalia for further action.

This after the six were arrested in a sting operation at Bulla Hawa in Mandera town on Friday as they attempted to sneak into the country with assortment of explosives and firearms.

According to a press release from Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett, the six including two Kenyans were planning to carry out a deadly attack on Kenyan soil before it was foiled in a joint operation of Kenyan security and their Somalia counterparts.

Boinett said Abdulahi Daud Adan and Ismail Issack both from Mandera Central are believed to be the ones who were to lead the team in launching their assault.

The other four from Somalia include Mohammed Ali Weythow, Hassan Adan Bulle, Hassan Mohamed Jama and Ahmed Muhhamed Muse.

Boinett said complete anti personnel explosive devices, four suicide vests, bomb making material including trinitrotoluene and fragmentation generating objects like nails, ball bearings and screw nuts were recovered from the suspects.

"The six had been dispatched from Burhache in Somalia by their commander with arsenal to launch an attack in Kenya," Boinett said.

he said," All the six are currently under heavy security and being interrogated with a view to uncovering their entire support network both in Kenya and Somalia for further action".

Boinett said the operation was successful because of the current Collaboration with government of Somalia and the support of the Gedo Regional Administration in the fight against Al Shabaab.

We wish to thank the members of the public who continue to support our security forces in the fight against terrorism, he said.
