Kanu secretary general Nick Salat has asked Deputy President William Ruto to stop defending the Independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC).

Salat said the DP should leave IEBC to speak on their behalf instead of trying to vindicate it over its ‘dismal show’.

“It seems Ruto has forgotten the drama at KICC during the tallying of the 2007 election results fighting hard on his displeasure on the way the election had been handled. It is now ridiculous that he is trying to stop some quarters from expressing their vies over it the way he did,” said Salat.

He added: “The church, Law Society of Kenya and even trade unions have said they do not have confidence with the IEBC then who is he to ignore all these voices,”

Speaking at Siwot Village in Bomet East during the funeral of his late grandmother Anna Kaplelach, Salat said Ruto should wake up to the reality and stop focusing on his selfish political interest.

Salat, at the same time, asked the government to carry out through investigations and unravel the mystery surrounding the killing the Nairobi businessman Jacob Juma.

Salat said the government should protect the lives of its citizenry to save them from such senseless killings.

He said it was sad to note that Jacob died at a time he had exposed various financial scams in the Jubilee government.

The secretary general said the killing of the businessman takes back Kenya to the past dark days when individuals seen to critics of the ruling government were allegedly silenced through such assassinations.
