DEPUTY President William Ruto has said he personally built Weston Hotel on Lang’ata Road, Nairobi.

In a video recorded when he addressed the thanksgiving ceremony for Energy CS Charles Keter at Kabianga Secondary School grounds on December 31, Ruto admitted he owns the 120-bed hotel.

He told Kalenjins not to shy away from investing in Nairobi, saying some people are on a mission to block others from investing.

“I built a hotel in Nairobi called Weston. Someone attempted to interfere with it, but I told him off. The land wasn’t his, I bought it,” Ruto says in the video.

In June last year, he admitted to having an interest in the hotel, months after his close ally Patrick Osero denied the DP holds any stake.

Osero in January last year insisted he owns the hotel with two others, but denied that Ruto is one of them.

The hotel was said to sit on land originally owned by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.

The hotel was accused of hiving off land from Lang’ata Road Primary School, claims it denied.

Ruto denied the link last June.
