Scholarships Watch


International School of Kenya, a private, non-profit co-educational day school in the outskirts of Nairobi, announces its 2016 High School Scholarship Programme. Scholarship applications are now being accepted for students entering Grade 9 or Grade 10 in August 2016.

Applications are open only to Kenyan citizens with proven financial need and in order to qualify, applicants must be 14 years old by September 2016. Applicants must have completed primary school education (standard 8), have high academic achievement and sound leadership skills. Applicants must also have the ability to live in Nairobi with family or legal guardians.

Students meeting the above criteria can download an application form from the ISK website,, and submit their applications by January 22, 2016. Selection will be based on merit and proven financial need. Recipients of a full scholarship, valued at Sh11 million (four-year scholarship), will be announced in April 2016.





Scholarships for developing countries in Czech Republic

Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, is offering scholarships to all students from developing countries and/or countries going through a process of political and economic transition.

Scholarships are available for pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s studies programmes at Charles University. Under the terms of this scholarship, students will receive a waiver of school fees for their first semester of study, plus a one-off payment of 50,000 CZK (Sh225,500) as a contribution towards living costs. Application deadline is April 30, 2016.





International Space University MSc Scholarship Programme

This financial aid is available for applicants from Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia, developing countries and from other countries. Scholarship is available for MSS, SSP and SH-SSP students. This aid is available to selected applicants, and covers a portion of their tuition fees.

The application deadlines are March 15, 2016 (MSS applicants), April 30, 2016 (SSP16 applicants) and November 30, 2015 (SH-SSP16 applicants).





TGCL Scholarship for Kenyan Students in Law

Funded by the German Foreign Office through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The requirements for admission to the LLM and PhD programmes are those applicable at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing postgraduate study programme (LLM or PhD) at the Tanzanian-German Centre for Eastern African Legal Studies (TGCL). A scholarship will cover the university fee and a health insurance. Application deadline is January 15, 2016.





Women’s Peacebuilding Leadership Programme (WPLP) for Kenyan Students

USAIDKenya and East Africa are offering scholarships. Applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 (based on a four-point scale). Scholarships are available for undertaking graduate certificate at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) in the USA. WPLP is a fully grant-funded program. Students will have all program-related costs, including tuition and travel, covered by the generosity of funders. Application deadline is November 15, 2015
