Namastey London Sequel in pipeline

I loved the movie. I can still watch it again and again and never get bored. That’s when you know a movie has been well made. Either that or I have nothing else to watch but it’s more the former than latter. The star cast included Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Rishi Kapoor back in 2007. Also, this time around, instead of being called Namastey London, it will be titled Namastey England. We know that Akshay will star in this movie again as the makers of the movie are waiting for him to finish his current filming obligations with other movie makers. The movie will not necessarily take off from where it left and they are currently trying to finalise with a new leading lady. That simply means we will not be seeing Katrina this time around.

Mahesh Bhatt lashes out

The film Hamari Adhuri Kahani released last week, stars Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Bala. It doesn’t seem to have to done too well at the box office over the opening weekend. We all know how in Bollywood the opening weekend either makes or breaks a film and this one seems to be broken.

The one person who is not happy is Mahesh Bhatt. Not only is this his film but the story is based on an aspect of his life that he got Mohit Suri to direct.

“The people from Bharat are loving the film but the people from India are not. So while I have no problem with that, I only appeal to people that recognise that in India there are many ‘Indias’ and we as filmmakers must be allowed the freedom to make films for as many ‘Indias’ that we think exist.”

The Arth director also used the fate of Mother India at the Oscars as an example.

“When Mr Mehboob Khan made Mother India, which was India’s first entry to the Oscars, the academy members couldn’t understand why the widow wouldn’t simply marry the money lender. They didn’t understand that a married woman with a mangalsutra in her hand and an absent husband cannot marry anybody until she finds out that he is dead and gone forever,” he said.

Proud to be a naani! Hema celebrates

On Thursday Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s younger daughter Ahana gave birth to a baby boy. Hema could barely contain her excitement when she spoke. “By the grace of God I am a grandmother now. It is a natural process of life. And I’m very proud to be a Naani. “

Ahana’s father Dharmendra too is “thrilled to bits” to see his youngest-born being blessed with a boy. Says Hema happily, “It all happened very smoothly and Ahana and the baby are doing very well. Ahana has already thought of a list of possible names for the baby. We’ll be choosing one from them.”

The busy parliamentarian-actress has taken the whole month off to be with her daughter and new grandchild. “In fact Baba Ramdev called seeking my presence in Delhi on 21st June for a yoga event. I firmly told him I have a new baby in the house that needs my attention.”

Not negotiable! Bollywood celebs and their starry demands

Several celebrities’ demands sometimes border on being coy. Take Sonakshi Sinha (pictured) for instance. The actress has a ‘no kissing’ and ‘no-intimacy’ clause in her contract. Reason? She is uncomfortable doing such scenes. Her Dabangg co-star, Salman Khan, too, detests locking lips on screen stating that families watch his films and apparently he feels awkward performing such scenes knowing that his mother (Salma) sees his films.

Post her wedding with Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan refrains from kissing and doing intimate bedroom scenes. Pakistani actor Ali Zafar too has incorporated a ‘no-kissing’ clause in his contract saying that he isn’t sure about how people will react to it back home. During the filming of London Paris New York (2012), the actor’s body double was used to shoot the love-making sequence between him and Aditi Rao Hydari.

DID YOU KNOW?

FARHAN AKHTAR’S MOTHER ASKED HIM TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE

Zoya also revealed that Farhan was so good at lying and acting that she thought he will become an actor. And we are glad he did not just try his luck in Bollywood, but has also carved his own niche in several aspects of cinema. Also, Farhan Akhtar wrote Dil Chahta Hai only when his mother threatened to throw him out of the house if he did not figure out what he wanted in his career.
