It's not going to be easy against Congo and Harambee Stars must be at their best

Congo Brazzaville Vs Harambee Stars, Tomorrow 5:15pm,

My Prediction: Congo...1 Stars...2

At least we’ll get to watch this live on TV and hopefully assess how our boys are playing and not just whether they win or lose. I want to see great football and since I have faith in the magic of the mzungu—read Bobby Williamson—I am hoping that our boys begin to play like a real team. Williamson has selected a strong set of players led by Captain Victor Wanyama but glaringly missing though is Gor Mahia forward and current KPL top scorer Ali Abondo.

He was left out of the squad to pave way for Chemelil Sugar’s Stephen Wakanya; one of the federations many inexplicable blunders. Their excuse of course is that they had already bought a ticket for Wakanya to travel. What disturbs me about that is whether it was FKF decision or the coach’s. Anyway I wish our boys the best and I hope our strike-force led by Allan Wanga will get us a few goals. Wanga has been doing really well for his Sudanese club, who so happen to be champions and I know he is raring to go. Kenya goes into today’s game ranked 123 in the World Fifa ranking while Congo Brazzaville is ranked 47.

Yes 47 and we know this is going to be tough. They appeared in this year’s Afcon and I remember them beating then Africa champions Nigeria in the qualifiers. They are a force to reckon with and the Stars need to be on top of their game to perform. I think the Stars perform with less pressure away than at home so bringing home a point isn’t impossible. Today, I will make an emotional prediction as a Kenyan Citizen.

Uruguay Vs Jamaica 10pm, Today,

My Prediction: Uruguay... 3 Jamaica....0

The Copa America kicked off on Thursday evening and I’m looking forward to more thrilling action. Uruguay are the defending champions and hold the record for the most titles. Not a team to play with considering they have won the World Cup in their history. Yeah I thought I’d just throw that in somewhere even though it happened before my mother was born. Anyway they beat Paraguay 3-0 in the last final which was really strange.

Paraguay got to the final without winning a single game in normal time. Uruguay have some special players who ply their trade for Atletico Madrid like Captain Diego Godin and fellow defender Jose Gimenez. Christian Rodriguez also play for the 2013/14 La Liga champions but the experience will come from their PSG hit man Edison Cavani. Jamaica believe it or not are champions of the Caribbean Cup and have been six times; but I think that’s where they belong; in the Caribbean Cup of producing reggae music. They’re in a way over their heads here.

Argentina Vs Paraguay, Tomorrow 00:30,

My Prediction: Argentina...3 Paraguay...1

Argentina are one of the favourites to win this tournament but they somehow always fall short. Their last win came in 1993 but then again they didn’t have Lionel Messi back then did they? And it’s not just Messi in this team that gave world Champions Germany a run for their money in the last World Cup.

They also have the likes of Angel Di Maria who’ll be eager to leave his traumatic Manchester United season behind him and clinch some silverware. Sergio Aguero had a magical season with Manchester City while Carlos Tevez is fresh from the Champions League final. Javier Mascherano is in fine form not to mention players like Pablo Zabaleta and Marcos Rojo. It will be a miracle if Argentina do not win this tournament. They do need to play a really attacking game against Paraguay who got to the last final without winning a game. They are a very defensive side and mess up any organized game. But I think the Messi army will carry the day easily.
