I had a very good idea the other Sunday late afternoon. I was interested in watching the big game between Manchester United and Arsenal, and I was also doing family duties in the Karen area. It was then that I got this brilliant plan to take a break at the Galleria on Lang'ata Road for a quick bite before we headed home. Here, we went up the stairs, and as we approached the tables and settled in our seats, something very interesting happened.
We quickly had several menus handed to us from different places. This place is a food court, so you can imagine us with a table with menus for Indian food (Khazana), Italian (Mambo Italia) and Chinese (Double Dragon) food. There were also some places which specialised in burgers (Mackees burger), a juice and sandwich bar (Kingcrocs) an ice cream parlour (Alpha Dairy) and a chicken wing specialty (Wing It).
With kids, we settled on burgers and ice cream from Mackees and Alpha Dairy – the spicy chicken wings there are to die for.
As we were doing our discussions, I was waiting for the game with a bank of TVs overhead which were off when we walked in, but I thought would be put on. The TVs were not to be put on in the public area, and I couldn't leave my table full of kids to watch the game at the Indian restaurant at the end. By half time, I couldn't take it anymore, and we were off to watch the game in my house.
The crowd who were enjoying the venue with us were a mix of families and a few couples – the area by the indian restaurant had many football fans following the progress of the game.
A quick recap of the venue:
Good: Decent décor and services, disability friendly, emergency exits clearly marked, clean washrooms.
Bad: A bit pricey, not for the sports fanatic.
My verdict: Bring your family for a variety of different types of fast foods and cuisines from around the world.
