TWO KDF pilots escaped uninjured after crash-landing in Bargoni, Lamu East, yesterday.

The soldiers had just taken off from the Bargoni army base when the captain realised there was a problem and made an emergency landing.

Speaking to the Star on the phone yesterday, KDF spokesperson David Obonyo said the helicopter developed mechanical problems.

Obonyo said no one was injured and that both pilots, whom he declined to name, have returned to camp.

“The officers were on patrol in the area. No casualties have been reported,” Obonyo said.

Obonyo said the helicopter was mildly damaged and has been towed to the Bargoni Army base for repairs.
