And it’s a wrap! The 2013/14 English Premier League season is over and surprise surprise; Arsenal are 4th.
There’s a document doing the rounds which is supposed to be the Premier League table a year from now; and while every other position is blank, the 4th position is already filled out; and you can guess which team is there.
It was funny when I saw it on facebook earlier this week but if it comes to pass 12 months from now, it won’t be so funny anymore.
I think as Arsenal fans we need to stop being satisfied with 4th position. We need to bite the bullet, thank Arsene Wenger for his service and let him go.
Yes we might go through a “David Moyes” like season but at least we’ll be heading somewhere.
I don’t believe Manchester United will have another season like this past one; I think the management will be more careful now in who they bring to manage and play for the team.
Liverpool have gone through several managers since Rafa Benitez left and several tough years of playing Europa and then no continental football at all; but at least they are finally heading in the right direction.
Brendan Rodgers has already spoken about adding smartly to the squad in the summer with Champions League football and every other tournament in mind.
They missed the league title by a whisker and yet he’s already seeing that they need to improve.
I don’t think they would wish to concede as many goals next season as they did this one; so he’s bound to make smart additions at the back.
Wenger has already been “linked” to players who should improve our line-up but that has been the story of our lives for the past couple of years.
We’ll be “linked” until the 1st of September when it dawns on us that all we’re buying is another Olivier Giroud or heaven forbid; an injured player.
But on the bright side of things Arsenal are finally going to end the trophy drought tomorrow.
Yes I am that confident. I am as confident as the Arsenal officials who have already requested that roads in the Islington area be closed on Sunday for a trophy parade.
I hope we put up a really good and convincing display against Hull City though. I don’t want a scruffy win. I want something that will convince me that next season will be even better.
It’s been far too long since we celebrated properly as Gunners.
I will be in Bondo for the game but I intend to cheer loudly and scream a lot after our victory.
It’s time. I just hope it’s the beginning of a new era at Arsenal. And that the joke of a table that’s looking into the future, remains just that, a joke!
