Police are investigating three separate killings reported in different parts of the country, including the discovery of a decomposed body in a Machakos dam.
In Kathekakai, Machakos County, the body of a woman identified as Christine Nyaboke was found floating in the Kwa Katilu Dam on Saturday, August 9.
Detectives believe she may have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the scene.
Preliminary findings showed her throat had been slit and she had two deep stab wounds on her lower cheek.
The body, which had significantly decomposed, was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue to determine the motive and those behind the killing.
Meanwhile, in Kangari, Murang’a County, a 22-year-old woman died following a domestic altercation. Police identified her as Damaris Kwamboka Morara.
According to police reports, Kwamboka had left the house she shared with her boyfriend after a quarrel and sought refuge at a friend’s home.
The man later arrived, took their young child, and left. Concerned, Kwamboka followed him to his house to breastfeed the child. It was there, police say, that the man attacked her, inflicting serious injuries before fleeing.
Kwamboka returned to her friend’s house and sought medical help but collapsed shortly after. She was rushed to a private hospital in Kangari, where she was pronounced dead.
Police said she had a wound on her left elbow that caused heavy bleeding. A manhunt for the suspect is underway.
In a separate incident in Kinja, Kinangop, Nyandarua County, a domestic dispute turned deadly when 32-year-old Jackson Njiiri was fatally attacked by his brothers.
Police say the assault, which occurred on August 9, left Njiiri with fatal injuries before the suspects fled.
His body was taken to the local mortuary pending post-mortem as police intensify the search for the attackers.
