The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 1,000 teaching vacancies
across technical
and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions nationwide.
The advert is in one of the largest recruitment drives targeting skills and
technical education.
According to the notice published on Tuesday, the vacancies are distributed
across 248
public TVET institutions, including national polytechnics,
technical training institutes and technical and vocational colleges spread
across all counties.
The details of the posts and mode of application can be accessed on the
Public Service Commission website www.publicservice.go.ke.
PSC urged interested and qualified persons to submit their applications
directly to the institutions where vacancies exist by filling one PSC 2
(Revised 2016) application form and attaching copies of National ID card,
academic and professional certificates, transcripts and any other testimonials.
The applications are to reach the respective Boards/ Councils on or January
9, 2026 by 5pm.
“The form may be downloaded from the Commission website: www.publicservice.go.ke. Successful candidates
will be required to apply for licensing and registration by the TVET Authority,”
PSC said.
The Commission said the recruitment aims to strengthen training capacity in
TVET institutions and address staffing gaps in line with the government’s
skills development agenda.
The 1,000 advertised positions are divided into two being, Degree / Higher National
Diploma holders with 600 vacancies and Diploma holders with 400
vacancies.
The positions cut across diverse disciplines offered in TVET institutions,
although the PSC did not specify subject areas in the general notice.
The vacancies are spread across institutions in all regions, including but
not limited to National Polytechnics such as Kabete, Kenya Coast, Kisumu,
Meru, Rift Valley, Eldoret, Bungoma, Thika, Michuki, Nyeri, Kitale and Nairobi
National Polytechnic.
Technical
Training Institutes including Kaiboi, Koshin, Gatanga, Karumo,
Kisiwa, Ziwa, Mathenge, Gitwebe, Borabu and Murang’a.
Technical
and Vocational Colleges across counties such as Baringo, Bomet,
Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Embu, Garissa, Homa Bay, Isiolo, Kajiado,
Kakamega, Kericho, Kiambu, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale,
Laikipia, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Mandera, Marsabit, Meru, Migori, Mombasa,
Murang’a, Nairobi, Nakuru, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Samburu,
Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Tharaka Nithi, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Uasin
Gishu, Vihiga, Wajir and West Pokot.
Some institutions such as Kabete National Polytechnic, Thika Technical
Training Institute, Rift Valley National Polytechnic, Kaiboi National
Polytechnic, Kaimosi Friends National Polytechnic and Kenya Coast National
Polytechnic have up to 10 vacancies each, reflecting high
staffing needs.
Unlike other PSC recruitments done centrally online, applicants are required to
submit their applications directly to the individual institutions where
vacancies exist.
The Commission noted that successful candidates will be required to apply for
licensing and registration with the TVET Authority, in line
with existing regulations.
PSC cautioned members of the public against fraudsters, emphasising that the
Commission does
not charge any fees for applications, shortlisting, interviews
or appointments, and applicants should only use official PSC forms and
channels.
The recruitment is expected to significantly boost staffing levels in public
TVET institutions and support the government’s push towards technical skills
training and youth employment.
