Detectives are investigating a murder case in an incident where a decomposed body of a woman was found in a house after a fire incident in Narok.
Police suspect the victim was killed, and later
the body was set on fire before it was discovered.
The body was discovered on July 27, long after
the woman had gone missing, police said.
The woman, identified as Joyce Nyanchama,
75, was last seen on July 24, police and locals said.
Neighbours' concerns prompted them to check on
the woman, only to find the house locked from inside.
Police said the windows were open, and a stench was emanating from inside.
It was then that the neighbours saw a
completely burnt bedspread on a metal bed, and there was an ankle of a human
being observed covered with the remains of burnt bedding.
The other parts of the room were not burnt as
they were intact.
Police visited the scene and confirmed the
woman had been burnt with only the head, an ankle and one forearm remaining.
The cause of the fire was not immediately
established, and the body was removed and taken to Narok County Referral
Hospital Morgue pending autopsy.
Police said they suspect the woman was
murdered and her body was set on fire on the bed to stage arson.
Elsewhere in Igoji, Meru County, one Genesio
Mbae, 62, was found dead after a suspected murder.
Police said his body was found outside his
house long after he had been murdered.
The body had blood oozing from the mouth and
nose.
According to the police, the deceased had been
living alone at the house, and the motive of the murder is yet to be
established.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending
autopsy and investigations.
Elsewhere, police in Busia are also investigating the murder of an unknown man whose body was found with serious head injuries on Sunday morning.
The deceased, with the head completely deformed, was lying dead, and it is
suspected that a blunt object had hit him on the head.
A red motorcycle was also found beside the body, police said.
The body was transferred to the Busia County Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting
identification and autopsy.
Police said no arrest has been made, and they want to understand the motivation as part of the probe into the murder.
