Police in Nakuru County have launched investigations into the brutal killing of an elderly couple who were found dead in their home in the Salgaa area.

According to police reports, the couple identified as 90-year-old Joseph Kihiti Ndegwa and his 63-year-old wife Betrosa Wanjiku Githuri were discovered murdered inside their house at Muthiga village in Matuiku area, Nakuru.

Investigators believe the two were killed on Saturday night, with their bodies discovered on Sunday afternoon by neighbours who became concerned after failing to see them that morning.

Officers who visited the scene said the bodies bore multiple injuries, pointing to a violent attack by unknown assailants.

By Tuesday, no arrests had been made.

The killings have left residents of the quiet rural village in shock, many expressing fear and disbelief over the heinous attack.

Police have assured locals that a team of detectives has been assigned to pursue the killers and unravel the motive.

Meanwhile, in Chemilili, Kisumu County, police are investigating another murder after a 35-year-old man, Silas Kityeso, was found dead outside his house. Kityeso, who worked at a nearby farm, had severe injuries to the head and chest.

Officers said the motive for the killing had not been established, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem. Investigations are ongoing.

In Makupa, Mombasa County, a 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a fight reportedly sparked by a dispute over a woman.

The deceased, identified as Ahmed Swaleh, suffered stab wounds to the chest.

According to witnesses, the attacker  a 16-year-old boy  fled the scene after stabbing Swaleh with a kitchen knife during the Sunday evening altercation.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, noting that such fatal confrontations linked to relationship disputes have been on the rise in recent months.

Elsewhere, in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, police are investigating the death of a man who was struck on the head during an argument.

Witnesses said the two men had engaged in a heated roadside exchange before one hit the other with a club.

The victim succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a nearby hospital on Saturday morning.

Police said the assailant escaped after the attack, and efforts to trace him are ongoing.

The body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy.
