Detectives are investigating the murder of a 52-year-old woman whose body was discovered outside her home in Kimangu village, Rongai, Nakuru County.
Police said Joyce Waithera was found on October 27. A domestic worker, who lived with Waithera and her son, is reported missing.
The son, a local teacher, told police he left for work and was unable to reach his mother by phone hours later.
Upon returning home around 6 pm, he expected the usual signs of activity in the kitchen, but the house was unusually quiet.
While approaching the house to keep his bag, he noticed a body covered with a pink sheet.
He soon realised it was his mother, with blood visible from her mouth, nose, and ears.
His younger sister, who had just returned from school, was inside the house and unaware of the murder. She continued with her chores until she was informed of the tragedy, police said.
Officers who visited the scene noted visible injuries to the back of Waithera’s head. Her body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy. The motive for the killing remains unknown.
In Rigoma village, Nyamira County, a 42-year-old woman, Nancy Ongeri, was found dead after an assault believed to have been carried out by her husband.
Police reported that the incident occurred on October 30 following an altercation in Itongo village.
Ongeri’s body had deep cuts on her face, forehead, cheeks, and chest. Neighbours said the couple had a history of domestic disputes.
The suspect is believed to have fled the scene, and police have launched a manhunt, urging him to surrender. Her body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Kabiyet, Nandi County, 33-year-old Judas Kipkurgat was found dead on a tilled piece of land. Police said he had a stab wound to the left chest, with blood visible from his mouth.
