Police in Magadi, Kajiado County, are investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman who was attacked on her farm on October 29.

According to police, the victim, identified as Magret Muriithi, was assaulted by an individual while working on her farm.

She died while being taken to the hospital.

The suspect fled the scene, and police said efforts are underway to trace the person believed to be involved. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Investigators are pursuing several leads to establish the motive behind the attack.

In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed during a livestock raid in the Aroo area of Turkana County.

Police said the incident occurred on October 29, when armed raiders attacked Natrimoi Kraal and drove away an unknown number of animals. The attackers reportedly killed the herder before fleeing.

A joint team of security personnel and members of the National Police Reserve responded to the incident, leading to the recovery of the stolen livestock. The attackers escaped, and a manhunt has been launched.

The body of the victim was taken to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Authorities said this was the latest incident in the area, where security teams have intensified operations against banditry and livestock theft.

Security teams are also searching for a ranger who went missing from a conservancy in Suguta Mar Mar, Samburu County.

Police said the ranger, attached to one of the area’s conservancies, has been missing for a week after failing to report to work. His G3 rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition are also unaccounted for.

Family members and colleagues have been questioned as part of efforts to trace his whereabouts.

The area is among those covered under Operation Maliza Uhalifu, a government-led initiative targeting armed banditry.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said the government is implementing both security and development interventions in the North Rift and parts of northern Kenya to curb banditry and promote stability.

He said the long-term plan includes empowering local communities to take part in anti-rustling initiatives and adopt sustainable economic activities.

Murkomen also announced plans to distribute subsidised agricultural inputs and provide extension services to residents to revive farming as a key source of livelihood.

As part of the ongoing security efforts, he directed fresh vetting of National Police Reservists (NPRs) to strengthen operations in affected regions.
