A female Grade Six pupil who was sitting for her KJSEA in Narok County has been found killed, and her body dumped in a sugarcane farm.

She was a pupil at Engoiperien School in Angata Barikoi Ward, Narok County. The body was found with the neck slit open and multiple injuries all over her body.

Assistant Chief of Oldonyo Orok Location, Robert Kirui, said the pupil was heading to school, where she was expected to sit for her exams, but did not arrive.

The body was identified as that of Cynthia Chepkirui from the same area. Kirui informed the police, who arrived at the scene and took the body to the Lolgorian Hospital morgue.

“DCI officers have visited the scene and taken over investigations to establish details about the incident,” Kirui said.

Residents led by Wilson Bett have urged security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure those responsible are brought to book.

“This is horrible and unacceptable. Those who killed the young girl must be brought to book,” Bett said.

Hundreds of residents flocked to the area after learning of the discovery of the body and expressed shock over the killing.

Bett said they would work with the police to ensure that those involved in the killing are arrested and face the law.

“As residents of this area, we will do everything possible to ensure that we assist the police in getting those responsible for this murder,” he said.
Security has been beefed up in the area to ensure safety for residents and candidates sitting for their exams in all schools.

Kirui said arrangements were in place to ensure that the exams would go on smoothly in all areas.

He urged residents with any relevant information on the incident to help the police so that those involved in the killing are arrested as soon as possible.

Separately, delivery of KJSEA/KPSEA exams in parts of Elgeyo Marakwet County was interrupted after two main rivers burst their banks, blocking access to several schools in the region.

Dispatch of the exams was interrupted due to flooding of Rivers Chesongoch and Embobut, caused by heavy downpour throughout the night.
Vehicles carrying exam papers, education officials, and other motorists were left stranded as they waited for the floods to subside.

Some of the key roads in the area cross the rivers where bridges have been submerged.

Elgeyo Marakwet County Commissioner John Korir said they were monitoring the situation as efforts were being made to have the exams and officials access the affected school.
