Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta and her family visit Mama Ida Odinga to offer their condolences.

Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta, on Thursday, October 30, 2025, visited the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's family at their Opoda Farm home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Siaya County, to condole with them following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. 

It was the first time Mama Ngina had visited the family since the passing of Raila Odinga, who was laid to rest on October 19, 2025, in his rural home.

During the visit, she met Mama Ida Odinga and other family members to offer her condolences and support as they continued to mourn the loss of the veteran opposition leader. 

The Odinga family, through a message posted on X, expressed gratitude for her visit.

“Thank you, Former First Lady, H.E. Mama Ngina Kenyatta and your family for joining the nation in mourning and coming home to commiserate with H.E. Mama Ida Odinga and the family of the late Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, CGH,” the statement said.

Since Raila’s burial, several local and international leaders have continued to visit Opoda Farm to offer condolences and pay tribute to his life and legacy. 

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was the first senior political figure to revisit Raila’s grave on October 20, 2025, a day after his burial.  

During his visit, Uhuru paid tribute to his longtime friend and political ally, describing him as a steadfast leader who dedicated his life to the fight for democracy and justice.

Uhuru also toured the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum, where he honoured the Odinga family’s enduring contribution to Kenya’s political journey and independence struggle. 

On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, former Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo also visited the Odinga family to pay his respects.  

Akufo-Addo said he travelled from Ghana because he regarded Raila Odinga as one of Africa’s great sons whose vision and courage in advancing democracy would never be forgotten. 

He was accompanied by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, KANU Chairman Gideon Moi, Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, Environment Cabinet Secretary Deborah Mulongo, among other leaders.

The continued visits by dignitaries highlight Raila Odinga’s influence both locally and internationally, as leaders from across the continent continue to honour his legacy and the ideals he stood for throughout his political life.
