A man was found dead at home following an attack with a power saw in a macabre suspected love triangle incident in Myanga village, Bungoma county.

The deceased, identified as Edward Mwela, was found dead in a pool of blood in a woman’s house on Sunday, October 12, 2025, police said.

Western regional police commander Issa Mohamud said the body of the deceased had a deep cut in the neck, which had been inflicted by a power saw.

Police and locals said Mwela had visited the home of a single mother in the area when he was attacked by another man who was believed to have been hiding in the house.

The assailant escaped the scene after the attack.

The power saw which had blood stains was found abandoned about 100 metres away from where the body lay, police said.

The woman, in whose house the incident happened, was arrested as part of the probe into the murder, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

Mohamud said the hunt for the said assailant in the saga is ongoing. The team handling the saga appealed to the suspect to surrender for processing.

Such murder incidents linked to love triangles have been on the rise in villages amid calls on parties involved to solve the differences amicably.

Elsewhere in Kamukuywa, Bungoma county, a decomposed body of a 61-year-old man was found in a home after murder.

Locals said they were disturbed by the smell and flies that prompted them to check on the home.

It was then that they called the police, who broke into the house and found one Jeremiah Wekesa, who lived alone, murdered.

Police said the body had deep cuts on the head and neck. A panga, a jembe stick and a spear were recovered at the scene and believed to have been used as murder weapons, police said.

The motive of the murder was not yet known by October 13, 2025, police said.

Police suspect the man was killed at least four days ago, as the body was decomposing when it was discovered.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In a different incident, police are investigating an incident where the body of a man was found dumped at a farm after his murder in Kunene, Tigania, Meru county.

Police said the deceased, Peter Giterere, 55, was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene before the body was found on Sunday afternoon.

The body had a visibly swollen face, chest and hands.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established.

The body was picked up and taken to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and further probe.

Detectives visited the scene and declared it was a secondary one. The team is pursuing leads on the possible area where the man was killed.
