KCB FC assistant coach Paul Ogai is confident the bankers can stitch up their third consecutive win when they take on APS Bomet today at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The bankers are currently unbeaten in their previous six league outings. Their unbeaten run started on November 9 when they drew 1-1 against Bandari.

They extended that form with a barren draw against Bidco before securing a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Mara Sugar courtesy of December Kisakah’s early strike.

KCB then drew 1-1 against Kakamega Homeboyz before opening up a two-game winning streak. They triumphed 1-0 over Sofapaka, and last Thursday beat Ulinzi Stars 2-1 courtesy of Stephen Etyang and Jack Okello’s strikes.

KCB’s unbeaten run came after the team had gone on a three-game losing run, falling at the hands of Gor Mahia (1-0), AFC Leopards (2-1) and Murang’a Seal (2-1) before their draw with Bandari.

Before that, they had opened their season with a dominant win over Tusker (2-0), followed by a 1-0 loss to Mathare before winning 1-0 over Kariobangi Sharks.

The results have seen the bankers amass 18 points so far in their 2025/26 SportPesa League campaign. With momentum now building in the camp, Ogai is bullish that the bankers are becoming a real threat in every match they step into. “Looking at the way we are playing now, there is confidence that we can score and win a match at any time,” Ogai said.

He further highlighted that the team has been in top form in all their away matches. “If you look at our games, the matches we have gotten more points in are the ones we have played away,” he added.

Despite being the home team in the tie against Bomet, Ogai takes refuge in the team’s unbeaten run so far. “The next match for us is a home match, and we haven’t lost our last six games.”

Reflecting on their previous tie against Ulinzi, Ogai noted that the three points were a morale booster against a strong side. “The victory over Ulinzi feels good. We were playing against them on their home turf.”

The team’s game plan was to score early and defend in search of a second goal. “We aimed to score first and then defend if we could not get the second goal. They came out strongly in the second half, and our concentration slightly dropped, and they got a goal, but we were able to fight back and get the second goal.”

Ogai highlighted the need to sharpen the team’s attack and defence. “We need to put more effort into our defence. We also need to put more work into our attacking,” he said.
