Over 250 golfers are set to descend on the lush, evergreen fairways of Kakamega Sports Club this weekend for the 22nd leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour.
At stake are coveted slots to the Tour’s highly anticipated Grand Finale scheduled for December.
Since its launch, the Tour has traversed Kenya’s top golfing counties—from the coastal greens of Mombasa to the high-altitude courses of Nandi and the central gems of Kiambu and Nyeri, as well as Nairobi, Kisumu, Kisii, Machakos, and Laikipia.
Beyond Kenya’s borders, the KCB Tour has extended its footprint to Uganda, Tanzania, and Burundi, with Rwanda set to host its leg later this month.
According to KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru, the Tour has evolved into far more than just a sporting showcase.
“The KCB East Africa Golf Tour has given us a unique platform to not only grow the sport but also to engage communities across the region,” Gichuru said.
She added that the initiative has already impacted over 2,500 participants, a testament to its commitment to developing the game at all levels.
“So far, we’ve reached more than 2,500 people, including juniors who represent the future of this game. It is about building connections, growing talent, and creating a sustainable legacy for golf in East Africa.”
Kakamega Sports Club captain Ronald Omondi revealed that the course is in pristine condition and ready for the weekend challenge.
“Our greens are in excellent condition, and everything is in place to give golfers a memorable experience,” said Omondi.
Omondi assured players of a top-class experience.
“We look forward to welcoming players from across the country for what promises to be a thrilling competition.”
On Sunday, the spotlight will shift to the community with a junior golf clinic aimed at introducing young talents to the sport. In addition, a tree-planting exercise will be held to reinforce KCB’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
After the Kakamega edition, the action will move to Limuru Country Club on October 18 for the next stop of the regional Tour as the road to the Grand Finale gathers momentum.
