The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) will host its inaugural Sports Day from October 31 to November 1 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

The event will bring together staff from the National Assembly, the Senate, and the Parliamentary Joint Services in a celebration of teamwork, wellness, and camaraderie.

Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge highlighted the role of sports in strengthening workplace cohesion and morale during the official opening of the sports trials at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, Nairobi.

“Sports are not only good for our health but also help us know each other better and work together as a team. It teaches us that we all have different abilities, and the most important thing is supporting one another,” said Njoroge.

Participants will compete in more than 30 disciplines, including athletics, swimming, volleyball, basketball, netball, football, and tug of war. Indoor games such as badminton, table tennis, chess, pool, scrabble, and darts will also feature. Disabled staff will take part in several of the events.

To encourage inclusivity and teamwork, staff have been divided into four colour-coded teams: red, black, white and gold. Team Red will include staff from the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sergeant-at-Arms, Legal Services, Human Capital and Administrative Services, and Parliamentary Research Services, led by Clerk Samuel Njoroge.

Team Black will include staff from the office of the clerk of the Senate, security and safety, finance and accounting, engineering and maintenance, the parliamentary budget office, and legislative and procedural services, under Senate Clerk Jeremiah Nyegenye.

Team Gold will consist of staff from the offices of the speakers, the director general and committee services in both houses, along with the library, ICT, parliamentary broadcasting unit, internal audit, and liaison, led by Director General Clement Nyandiere.

Team White will include staff from the Office of the PSC Secretary, PSC Secretariat, CPST, catering and hospitality, Hansard and audio services, and litigation and compliance, led by Noor Ghalgan, Director, Commission Secretariat.
