The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a notice announcing key additions and corrections to the nationwide recruitment of police constables scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2025.

In the notice signed by Inspector General Douglas Kanja, NPS clarified that the recruitment drive, which was first advertised on October 31, 2025, in various media outlets, will proceed as planned across the country.

However, several adjustments have been made to the list of recruitment centres.

According to Kanja, ex-National Youth Service (NYS) candidates may now present themselves either at their respective home sub-county recruitment centres or at an additional recruitment venue at the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi County.

The centre had been inadvertently omitted from the earlier advertisement.

The updated list also includes corrections to certain sub-county recruitment centres in Kajiado and Narok counties.

In Kajiado County, the Kajiado West sub-county recruitment will take place at Ole Polos, while the Elangata Wuas sub-county exercise will be held at the DCC’s Office in Elangata Wuas.

In Narok County, the Narok West sub-county recruitment centre has been corrected to Ng’osuani Centre.

“All other information contained in the earlier advertisement remains unchanged,” the notice dated November 7 reads.

The National Police Service urged members of the public, especially interested applicants, to take note of these changes to ensure a smooth and transparent recruitment process.

The recruitment is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security services and enhance the country’s policing capacity.

It will take place simultaneously in counties across 422 designated centres, and all applicants are required to report to their respective venues by 8 am.

To ensure transparency and fairness, senior police officers and representatives from relevant government agencies will oversee the exercise.

The IG emphasised that the recruitment process will be free and open to all qualified Kenyans who meet the minimum entry requirements.

The announcement followed a High Court ruling declaring that the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has no power to recruit, train, employ, assign, promote, suspend, or dismiss members of the NPS.

The court said such functions fall exclusively under the independent command of the IG as provided in Article 245 of the Constitution.

Applicants are required to be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, possess a valid Kenya national identity card, and have attained a minimum grade of D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), with at least a D+ in English or Kiswahili.

Candidates must also be physically and medically fit, with the minimum height requirements set at 5 feet 8 inches for men and 5 feet 3 inches for women.
