

The Independent Policing Oversight
Authority have joined a probe into the death of a suspect who is said to have
died by suicide at the Kisumu Central police station.
The body of Kelvin Oduor was found
hanging on the window of the station bathroom, police said.
Police on duty were Friday October 31,
2025 preparing to hand over to the incoming shift when they found Oduor was
missing from among other suspects being held then.
He was later found hanging in a cell
bathroom with a string tied around his neck.
The deceased had been arrested over
robbery with violence claims.
He had been taken to court, and a
magistrate allowed police to detain him there for 14 days pending further
investigations.
It was then that he is said to have
died by suicide. The motive of the suicide was not immediately known, police
said, adding that investigations are ongoing into the same.
The body was moved to the mortuary
pending an autopsy and other procedures.
IPOA was informed of the incident and
has since started its investigations into the same.
In Nyeri’s Kiarihiu
area, the decomposed body of a man identified as Nicholas Kibui, 73, was found in Chehe Forest.
The man went missing
on October 20, 2025, and the incident was reported to local authorities.
It is not clear how he died before the body was discovered 11 days later.
The deceased had been to
the same scene twice in the past in a puzzling incident, police said as they
moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
Elsewhere in Mulungu,
Vihiga County, a man died after a gold mine site collapsed.
The deceased was identified as Brighton Siruma, 22.
Such incidents have been common at gold mine sites amid a campaign to address the trend.
In Riakanau, Embu County, a man drowned after a motorboat capsized on the Masinga Dam area.
The victim was among
four people on the motorboat ferrying tomatoes from Kamaimba to Riakanau when
the incident happened in Nzekenini village, police said.
Three others managed
to swim through the water, while one drowned, and he was unaccounted for.
Efforts to search and rescue him went
on Saturday, police said.
In the Lwala area, Bondo, Siaya County, a man was
stoned to death over claims of stealing.
His body was moved to
the mortuary pending a probe and autopsy, police said of the November 1, 2025, incident.
Police said they are investigating the incidents.
