Probe on after woman found dead on roadside in Narok Town

Detectives are investigating an incident where a 32-year-old woman was found dead after her murder in Sealock area, Narok Town.

Police said the body of Mercy Cherono Mutai was found lying naked along Nyawira Road long after her murder on September 22, 2025.

The motive of the murder was not established.

The body was found about 50 metres from her rented house, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.

The body did not have any visible injuries when it was discovered, police said.

The woman had been seen earlier on Sunday at a local shopping centre, and the husband said she did not return home.

The police said they are investigating the murder incident.

Elsewhere in Kapsabet, Nandi county, a body of a woman was found in a paddy furrow at Chorwet Village, police said, adding she had been murdered.

Police and locals identified her as Fanice Indas, 50. She had multiple visible head injuries and a fractured skull.

It was apparent that the gruesome murder was done in a different area and the body dumped at the scene at an unknown hour of the night, police said, citing lack of struggle signs there.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known. The body was picked up to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.

Police said no arrests had been made in regard to the murder of the two murder incidents, but investigators were on the ground pursuing leads into the same.

Cases of murder targeting women have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them.

The government has created a task force to investigate the cases and give a report on how to solve the trend.

Meanwhile, in Kisumu’s Dago area, the body of a fisherman identified as Stephen Ochieng, 35, was retrieved from Lake Victoria after he drowned.

Police and locals said he drowned while on a fishing expedition.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Gachoka, Embu county, a juvenile at Kangeta Primary School was found dead on his bed.

The nine-year-old boy who was a special unit pupil died under unclear circumstances.
