Kenyan striker Ryan Wesley Ogam has officially sealed a move from Tusker FC to Austrian top-tier side Wolfsberger AC.

The deal marks a major step in his ascending career.

On September 3, 2025, following the international break, Wolfsberger AC formally confirmed Ogam’s signing. Club President Dietmar Riegler expressed his enthusiasm, praising Ogam’s talent and potential.

“We are delighted to welcome Ryan to Wolfsberger AC. He is an exciting young striker with great potential. We have been following his progress at Tusker FC closely, and his recent performances with the Harambee Stars have further underlined his quality,” Riegler said.

Reflecting on the challenge ahead, Ogam offered a candid and determined outlook.

“I am really excited at the journey ahead, and I know it will not be easy. I will need to work twice or thrice harder than I was here because the expectation is definitely higher. But I am very optimistic, and I am looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

A rising star, Ogam was born in Nairobi on December 21, 2004. He developed his football foundation through youth stints with Galaxy FC, Sunrise FC, and UEFA Despanol, before making his senior breakthrough with Rainbow FC in Kenya’s second-tier league.

He later joined Tusker FC in 2024 and emerged as one of the league’s most lethal forwards, scoring 15 goals in just 17 appearances.

Despite suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for several months early in 2025, Ogam returned to form and found the net consistently, including vital goals during the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

He scored match-winning strikes against both Morocco and Zambia, earning man-of-the-match honors and drawing comparisons to Kenyan legend Michael Olunga.

For Wolfsberger AC, who finished fourth in last season’s Austrian Bundesliga playoffs, Ogam’s acquisition represents an investment in youthful flair and goal-scoring urgency.

The club will be banking on his sharp finishing and versatility to bolster their attacking options.

For Kenyan football, the signing underscores the growing export quality of its local talent.

Ogam follows in the footsteps of other Kenyan players who have made moves abroad, carrying national hopes and raising the profile of the domestic league.

Ogam's career snapshot:

Age and birthdate: Born December 21, 2004, aged 20

Positional shift: Began as a midfielder before being converted to striker at Tusker FC

Performance stats: 15 goals in 17 top-flight appearances

Injury setback: Underwent knee surgery in early 2025, sidelined for several months

International highlights: Match-winning goals in CHAN against Morocco and Zambia

Transfer objective: Launchpad into European football

Ogam’s move to Wolfsberger AC offers him a valuable platform to test himself at a higher level and reflects his rapid development from local youth football to the European stage.

His journey will be closely watched by followers of Kenyan football and beyond.
