The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has told off those criticising and destabilising the outfit's leadership.

DAP-Kenya Parliamentary Group said it is concerned by reports of a coordinated effort to destabilise its leadership through a hostile takeover.

The party alleged that the scheme has been hatched by external forces through one of its leaders.

They said that the leader has been parading as a democrat and a defender of the people of Western Kenya and has been doing the opposite.

The PG underscored that the leader has consistently benefited from the full moral, political, and legal support of party leadership.

“Any effort to launch an unconstitutional takeover of DAP Kenya, targeting Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa and the national leadership, will be met with resolute resistance. We are aware of his newly formed political party and caution him against attempts to destabilise DAP-K as he makes his exit,” the statement read.

The DAP-K Parliamentary Group expressed their full confidence in the leadership of their party leader, Wamalwa.

They said Wamalwa deserves full support from all party leaders and supporters, not acts of sabotage, especially at this pivotal time when the focus is on development issues targeting to improve the lives of Kenyans.

“DAP-K is not just the 5th largest party in Kenya but has been the most stable and consistent party in fighting corruption, social injustice, human rights, and constitutionalism,” they said.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguard these core values and preserve Kenya's multiparty democracy.”

The DAP-K Parliamentary Group demanded that a National Management Council (NMC) meeting be called and address the matter and take the necessary drastic action.

The Democratic Action Party of DAP-K is led by Eugene Wamalwa.

The party was one of 23 that contested the 2022 Kenyan general election as part of the Azimio La Umoja alliance.

They had 61 candidates, but only 5 were elected to the 13th Parliament.
