President William Ruto is expected in the Maasai Mara today for a high-profile visit that coincides with the world-renowned wildebeest migration spectacle.

The wildebeest migration is an annual circular journey of over a million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles across the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems.

Driven by the search for fresh grazing and water, the migration follows the rains and is a continuous cycle, with the herds moving clockwise through the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya.

July to October is when the wildebeest migration reaches its peak, with herds crossing the Mara River into the Masai Mara National Reserve.

August is often cited as the peak month for witnessing the river crossing. 

IGAD and Japan to host forum on women, peace, and security in the Horn of Africa

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in collaboration with the Government of Japan, will convene a High-Level Forum of the IGAD Council of Eminent Persons (ICEP) focused on advancing Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) in the Horn of Africa.

The forum, to be held at Radisson Hotel, Upper Hill from 8.30 am, brings together women leaders, peace mediators, celebrated athletes, and cultural icons from across the region to co-create inclusive peace strategies and validate the ICEP Strategic Plan.

Key objectives include promoting inclusive conflict resolution and mediation practices and validation of the ICEP Short- and Long-Term Strategic Plan.

Participants will also share lessons and innovations in peace leadership

CBK Governor to face senators 

Governor of Central Bank of Kenya, Kamau Thugge, will appear before the Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations regarding a large number of commercial bank accounts operated by county governments contrary to the law at Bunge Towers, 10 am

Governors have continued to open illegal bank accounts for county operations, pushing the numbers to 2,421 as of September 30, 2024.

Counties have continued to ignore warnings that the growing number of bank accounts operated outside the law had made it hard to track public expenditure.

PBOs–Kenya hosts high-level thematic leaders meeting

The National Federation of Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs)- Kenya will convene a thematic leaders meeting at its Nyayo House headquarters, in  Nairobi, from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm.

The federation acts as a central body for all registered PBOs (formerly NGOs) in Kenya.

It promotes and coordinates self-regulation among PBOs through various forums and codes of conduct.

The federation works towards creating and maintaining an environment that supports the effective functioning of PBOs.

Cyber Games Awards at Utalii College

State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy PS John Tanui will preside over the Cyber Games Awards Ceremony at Utalii College at 8 am.

The Cyber Games Awards Ceremony is the culminating event of the 10-week CyberGame Challenge, which is part of the larger CyberWeek Africa 2025.

This challenge, organised by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, aims to nurture cybersecurity talent in Kenya.

The awards ceremony will recognise and reward top-performing participants across various categories, including students, junior players, and those from the public and private sectors.

CFAO Mobility Kenya will launch Sinotruk H2 Light Duty and H3 Medium Duty Trucks at Carnivore Restaurant at 8.30 am.

The event will feature vehicles built to deliver greater payload, horsepower, and value to Kenya’s transport and logistics sector.

The new additions are tailored to serve last-mile delivery, bulk distribution, and long-haul operations, setting new benchmarks in reliability, efficiency, and affordability.

There will also be an interactive session with the CFAO Mobility Kenya representatives
