Heavy traffic was reported on Nairobi-bound Waiyaki Way on Tuesday after a lorry overturned near the Expressway toll station, blocking the entire
lane.
The lorry, which was carrying sacks of chicken feed, was hit
by another lorry as it sped downhill towards Westlands, causing the driver to
lose control.
Traffic police are on the scene, redirecting traffic to an
alternative route just before the Nairobi Expressway toll station.
Motorists from
Kangemi are being redirected via Brookeside Grove and exiting at Karuna Close
at Lion Place.
Meanwhile, boda boda riders are taking advantage of the
small space left on one side of the road, weaving in and out of the traffic
with ease.
A tow lorry has arrived and the process of removing the
lorry is now underway.
Eyewitnesses report hearing a loud screeching sound as the
speeding lorry collided with the other that was joining the highway, sending
the latter careening out of control.
The impact was forceful enough to knock the lorry off its
wheels, causing it to tumble onto its side.
The lorry that caused the accident was carrying sand.
