Heavy traffic was reported on  Nairobi-bound Waiyaki Way on Tuesday after a lorry overturned near the Expressway toll station, blocking the entire lane.

The lorry, which was carrying sacks of chicken feed, was hit by another lorry as it sped downhill towards Westlands, causing the driver to lose control.

Traffic police are on the scene, redirecting traffic to an alternative route just before the Nairobi Expressway toll station.

 Motorists from Kangemi are being redirected via Brookeside Grove and exiting at Karuna Close at Lion Place.

Meanwhile, boda boda riders are taking advantage of the small space left on one side of the road, weaving in and out of the traffic with ease.

A tow lorry has arrived and the process of removing the lorry is now underway.

Eyewitnesses report hearing a loud screeching sound as the speeding lorry collided with the other that was joining the highway, sending the latter careening out of control.

The impact was forceful enough to knock the lorry off its wheels, causing it to tumble onto its side.

The lorry that caused the accident was carrying sand.
