
In Sirisia, Bungoma County, a 95-year-old woman was found brutally murdered inside her home in Namusembi village.
Police said the body of Risper Nabiswo Wayongo was discovered in her bedroom with visible injuries, and blood was seen oozing from her private parts.
Her son told police he heard a commotion coming from her house on Saturday night.
Upon checking, he said he saw a neighbour fleeing the scene. Inside, he found his mother lying dead, apparently assaulted.
Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary as investigations into the suspected murder began.
Elsewhere in the Matisi area of Bungoma, a 49-year-old night guard, Martin Muhongo, was killed in a robbery at a local bar.
His body was discovered about 100 metres from the premises, lying in a pool of blood with deep head wounds. Police said his hands and legs had been tied before he was attacked.
The attackers are believed to have made away with a 42-inch television, a laptop, and various alcoholic drinks.
They also broke into a nearby bus company office and stole several parcels awaiting dispatch. The body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem as police pursue the suspects.
In a separate incident in Shamatete village, Embali area of Vihiga County, police are investigating the murder of a 35-year-old woman whose body was dumped by the roadside.
The victim, identified as Melisa Omina, had visible strangulation marks on her neck and blood coming from her mouth and nose.
Officers said she had been assaulted before being killed. Her body was moved to the mortuary as inquiries continue to determine the motive.
Meanwhile, in Masara, Migori County, police are looking into a case involving the secret burial of a child without notifying the authorities.
A man allegedly buried his three-and-a-half-year-old son in a shallow grave on July 17. Police say the incident was reported after the burial had already taken place.
Officers who visited the scene declared it a crime scene and announced plans to exhume the body for an autopsy and further investigation.
A traditional healer has been linked to the case and is being sought for questioning. The boy’s father fled as police approached the homestead.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing in all the cases and have appealed to the public to share any information that could help bring those responsible to justice.
