
An elderly
woman was found murdered, her decomposing body abandoned in a kitchen in Rumwe
Farm Estate, Njoro, Nakuru County.
The body of
Salome Wairimu Kanyinge, 90, was discovered lying in her one-roomed kitchen.
She had not
been seen for several days, prompting neighbours to check on her on Wednesday,
July 17.
They were
shocked to find her decomposing body, and alerted the police.
According to
police, the house appeared to have been ransacked. The woman lived alone.
Her body was
found with a piece of cloth tied tightly around her neck, suggesting she had
been strangled.
Her head was
covered with a white manila sack and pinned between large stones.
Police said
the area around the head was soaked in blood.
The motive
for the murder is yet to be established. The body was moved to the mortuary
pending a postmortem and further investigations.
Detectives
revisited the scene on Thursday to continue the probe. They are also seeking to
determine whether the woman was physically assaulted.
In a
separate incident in Endebes, Trans Nzoia County, a 70-year-old woman was found
murdered.
She was
identified as Mary Masika. The motive behind her killing is unknown.
Her body was
found lying on the floor, with blood oozing from her mouth.
Police are
investigating the murder. The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Meanwhile,
in Matisi, Webuye, Bungoma County, the body of Joseph Wanjala, 22, was found
dumped in a sugarcane plantation after a suspected murder.
Wanjala had
been reported missing on July 14. His body was found three days later.
Police said
the body had deep cuts on the head and a broken neck.
The body was
taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.
The motive
behind the killing remains unclear.
