A suspect who returned to a
crime scene for more loot was arrested, and a gun was recovered from him along the
Eastern bypass, Mwihoko, Nairobi.
Police said the suspect planned to steal from motorists stuck on the road following a mechanical issue.
Four people in a car had stopped on the road on Monday morning after their vehicle developed mechanical issues on May 20 at dawn.
According to police, two men on a motorcycle pulled there and robbed the victims of their mobile phones.
Police were alerted and responded to the scene as a mechanic attended to the car.
It was then that the same motorcycle pulled up there but at a distance and dropped a pillion passenger.
The passenger walked to the scene, not aware that the police had already arrived, police said.
He pretended to be one of the rescuers, but when he was challenged, he bent down to his right leg, and the officers became suspicious of his action.
The officers ordered him to surrender and raise his hands, and he obliged as his accomplice sped off.
He was hence arrested, and a quick search was conducted, whereby the suspect, aged 19, was arrested.
Police said they found a Retay Falcon loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition intact in his right leg in the socks.
He was arrested for further action.
