The office of the Assistant County Commissioner Kitengela was torched by rowdy protesters on July 12,2023.

The office of the Assistant County Commissioner in Kitengela, Kajiado County, is among the public properties destroyed in the Wednesday protests.

The office was set on fire by protesters after vandalising it. The office also hosts the chief's office.

In a video, tables and cabinets can be seen lying on the floor which is littered with documents and National Identity cards.

During the protests, three people were shot dead in the area.

Kitengela neighbours Mlolongo where protesters vandalised the Nairobi Expressway and paralysed transport along the Mombasa highway.

Hundreds of demonstrators thronged the highway and barricaded it, causing heavy traffic congestion.

The crowds were protesting against the high cost of living.
