Azimio leader Raila Odinga during a press brief on March 28, 2023.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has questioned the leadership of the country following Monday's attack that left a trail of destruction.

According to him, the elected leaders are not statesmen.

Speaking on Tuesday, Raila also called out President William Ruto over his trip to Germany, whose purpose is to attract investments into the country.

He questioned how he can do that, while back at home he has allegedly put in place a "machinery" to attack local investments.

"The country is in the hands of men who are goons at heart while pretending to be leaders and statesmen. How does Ruto go to Germany and talk about attracting foreign investments to Kenya but back at home, he has put in place machinery for vicious attacks on local investments," the former Prime Minister said.

This followed an attack on the Kenyatta farm in Ruiru and East Africa Spectre by unknown youths.

The two companies belong to the family of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila.

The opposition chief accused President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of watering the class war since the campaign period.

Speaking while in Germany on Tuesday, Ruto assured Kenyans living in Germany that impunity will not be part of the country's political discourse.

He said all Kenyans must submit to the rule of law.

"That is what makes us equal. Nobody should trample on the rights of others," he said.

He added that he will ensure everyone's life, property and business is protected.

"We have deliberately offered the police operational and financial independence to work. It is their duty to ensure that everyone adheres to the rule of law," he said.

Ruto said it is incumbent upon the Inspector General of Police to decide on how to secure Kenya.
