The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested three men suspected of carrying out robbery with violence at Sanergy Limited Company EPZ in Kinanje, Athi River.

The Directorate said the trio were arrested following a probe that led detectives back to the robbery which occurred on February 23, 2025.

The trio were arrested after a painstaking probe that traced their footsteps back to a robbery with violence incident that unfolded at Sanergy Limited Company EPZ in Kinanie, Athi-River on February 23, 2025," DCI stated.

DCI explained that on the day of the incident, five men, armed with crude weapons, stormed the facility where they assaulted workers and held them hostage.

The employees were left battered and bound as the robbers made off with their loot: a fridge, a microwave, two lorry batteries, two backloader tractor batteries and a generator.

Following the incident, Athi-River detectives launched a manhunt, piecing together forensic clues that led them to a rented house in Kamulu.

The man suspected to be the ringleader was arrested, and a search turned up a Beretta pistol, a pocket phone, beige and green tactical trousers and six assorted SIM cards.

The man led detectives to Gimu in Athi-River, where his accomplices were arrested.

The trio are currently undergoing processing pending arraignment as detectives pursue more leads to bring to book more suspects still at large.

Meanwhile, the recovered items are securely detained as exhibits in the ongoing probe.
