
Football Kenya Federation president Hussein Mohamed held talks with the Brazilian Embassy on Saturday, May 10, on strategic partnership and working relations, to improve local football standards.
Hussein, who promised to give grassroots and Youth football priority for both men and women, hit the road running, with more coaches getting trained at different ranks across the country.
The South American Nation, through its embassy, expressed optimism about building a long-term relationship with the FKF, one that would benefit the growth of football in Kenya.
Hussein, who was in Cairo, Egypt, for the Rising Stars final clash against Nigeria on Thursday 8, May 2025, in the ongoing AFCON Under-20 tournament, had urged Kenyans to be patient with the youth teams as they continue building up.
Hussein was accompanied by FKF National Executive Committee member Abdalla Yusuf, during which they held successful talks.
“The country, through its embassy, expressed optimism about building a long-term relationship with the Football Kenya Federation, one that would benefit the growth of football in Kenya.” Said Yusuf
The experienced football administrator successfully ran the Super 8 Tournament that promoted fully fledged grassroots leagues that will be seeking promotion of talent, discipline.
The Super 8 conducted by Hussein’s Extreme sport instilled hope amongst the youth, and he is expected to use the same blueprint to push the youth to professional ranks and monetise the game.
Hussein, who watched Kenya bow out of the Under-20 African Cup of Nations in the preliminaries following a 2-2 draw with Nigeria, said it is just a matter of time before we, the youngsters, join the senior national teams.
He also wants the federation to continue bridging the gaps and improving football in the lower ranks.
“As we continue investing in youth football and building sustainable pathways for growth, it is moments like these - where diplomacy aligns with development, that strengthen our resolve for a brighter, more structured future for Kenyan football.” Said Hussein.
