Activist Boniface Mwangi has accused President William Ruto of not respecting the Constitution of Kenya.
Speaking on Thursday, Mwangi claimed that Ruto wants to rule by force and that he was afraid of the days ahead.
He went on to compare Ruto and his nemesis Raila Odinga, where he said that the former Prime Minister has his flaws but at least he has respect for the Constitution.
"In spite of Raila Odinga’s many weaknesses, he has some respect for our constitution. The Odinga family have paid a huge personal price for Kenya to have rule of law. Ruto has no respect for the constitution. He wants to rule by decree and acclaim. I’m afraid of the coming days," Mwangi said.
His remarks followed an uproar by a section of Kenyans over the president's appointment of Chief Administrative Secretaries.
However, President William Ruto has on numerous occasions assured Kenyans that his administration will be guided by the law.
Ruto appointed the CASs on Wednesday and had them sworn in on Thursday to officially start discharging their duties after the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula said parliament had no mandate vetting the CASs.
"It is notified that the Speaker of the National Assembly has referred back to the Appointing Authority the Transmittal of the Nominees for Appointment to the rank of Chief Administrative Secretaries," State House spokesman Hussein Mohamed said.
Ruto had nominated 50 CASs who will serve as deputy ministers in the absence of Cabinet secretaries.
Speaking after their swearing-in urged the officials to work within the parameters of the law while serving Kenyans.
"You have to serve within the parameters of the law irrespective of the position you hold. No one including myself is above the law," Ruto said.
