Opposition leader Raila Odinga who is accompanied by other Coalition bigwigs was forced to retreat to Nairobi's Eastlands area after earlier attempts to gain entry were thwarted.

His efforts to address supporters at Mlango Kubwa, Mukuru kwa chief and Mathare also failed as police who had kept trailing them lobbed teargas canisters while spraying water at the defiant youth.

"They are cowards, we gave a notice to the police for this demonstration," said Raila.
