Fire incident
Two minors died in a fire incident in a village in Ndaraweta, Kericho County.
The two
had been left in their house without care when the fire broke out, burning down
their house, police said.
The children were aged
seven and one and seven months old. Police said the incident happened in
Kapcheluch village.
Their three-roomed house
made of timber caught fire out of a burning jiko killing them, police said.
The
neighbours noticed the fire and rushed to the scene but could not salvage
anything.
The
mother of the children had left them in the house and went to pluck tea when
the incident happened on May 23, police and locals said.
The
bodies were moved to the mortuary pending investigations.
The incident came before
another fire killed eight people in a similar one in Kibera, Nairobi.
Seven of them were from the same family. Many others were displaced in the Saturday May 24 incident. More than 20 others were injured.
Police said seven of them are admitted in the hospital with serious burns. The incident happened as the victims were sleeping
at about 4 am.
Police say they are yet
to establish the cause of the fire.
A similar incident left
five people dead in Mathare slums last week. More than ten others were injured
in the tragedy.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing, police said.
Meanwhile, police are
investigating two separate sudden death incidents.

was reported in Bungoma, where the body of Eliud Luyodi, who lived alone in the
farmhouse tending the sugarcane farm was found dead.
The house was
locked from the inside. Locals broke into the house and found the body lying on
bed.
In the Dago area of Kisumu, a man died after collapsing in his house.
The man identified
as Charles Kinyanjui, 25 collapsed in the house in the presence of his wife on
May 20.
The wife said she
thought he was pretending when he collapsed.
The wife told
police she thought the deceased was acting.
The family later
realized he had died.
The body, which had
no visible injuries, was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
And police are
investigating an incident where a six-year-old girl drowned in a well in Opapo
Village, Rongo, Migori County.
The child was alone
in their rented house when she ventured into an open well near there.
