Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Monday promised to prioritise enhancement of Early Child Development Education.
He said this will be done by absorbing all 800 ECDE Care givers into permanent and pensionable terms of service.
The governor spoke as he presided over Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Amani Primary School in Chepchoina ward in Endebes sub county.
"There is need for improvement of infrastructural development in our schools besides my government striving to go to an extra mile in increasing capitation and manpower to improve the quality of learning for our children," Natembeya said.
He also pledged to work with all elected leaders to actualise rapid development in county.
The governor called for cooperation among all elected leaders, saying those who had sponsored court cases to derail his agenda need to rethink their actions for the sake of developing Trans Nzoia.
The Governor said his administration had revived the Nawiri fund that will go along with his development agenda.
He urged the Agriculture Development Corporation's management to rethink its priorities, adding that locals had benefited nothing in terms of social corporate responsibility.
He said it was uncalled for, for the corporation to allow its NPR hired security to attack locals looking for left over maize.
Endebes MP Robert Pukose led other elected leaders in affirming their support to the governor.
Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory asked parents not to abdicate their parental roles, cautioning against the practice of FGM.
Area County Commissioner Mathias Rioba warned that those who had preyed on school girls and impregnated them would be prosecuted.
"I have instructed chiefs and their assistants to take stock of all school girls that sat for their examinations while pregnant in order to have them prosecuted," he said.
The function was also attended by members of the County Security Committee, County executive committee members and several ward representatives.
