The
elders, led by the Kenya
Livestock marketing Council chairman Dubat Amey, were
responding to the recent appointment of Ahmed Duale as the chairperson of the
Ewaso Nyiro North River Basin Development Authority and former Ijara
MP Ahmed Abaas as the non-executive chairperson of the board of the National Syndemic Disease Control
Council.
“We thank
President Ruto for appointing one of us, Ahmed Duale, to serve as the
chairperson for the Ewaso Nyiro North River Basin Development Authority,” Dubat said.
“We
equally thank him for appointing Honourable Abass as the chairperson of the
NSDCC. As marginalised
people from Ijara constituency, we have received so much from this government
and we still expect more,” he added.
Hassan
Abdirahman, while
thanking President Ruto for the appointments, said they go a long way to show
that he has faith in them to deliver on their duties.
“This
gesture is not only a reaffirmation of Duale’s unwavering commitment to public
service, but also a strong demonstration of the President’s continued trust and
inclusivity in national leadership. We commend His Excellency for recognising
and affirming the value and competence of leaders from our region,” Abdirahman
said.
Yustu Farah said the appointments reflect the
President's deliberate effort to foster equitable representation and unity
across all corners of the country.
“Over the
past months, the people of Garissa and the larger Northeastern region have
witnessed, with deep appreciation, several key appointments of sons and daughters
from this area into strategic positions of national responsibility. We don’t
take this for granted," Yustu said.
Khadija Ibrahim assured the President of the community’s unwavering support as he continues to steer the nation
forward.
“We have every reason to say that this is our government and we feel part and parcel of it. We want to assure the President that we will continue to work hand in hand with his administration to ensure sustainable development, peace, and prosperity for all,” she said.
