Tusker CEO backs foreign trio to lead Club to silverware

Tusker FC have boosted their chances of finishing the 2025/26 Premier League season with silverware by signing three foreign players in the just-concluded transfer window.

The club on Tuesday confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila, left-back Servel Akouala from Congo-Brazzaville and striker Selasie Bless Akai from Ghana.  The trio signed contracts until the end of the season. 

The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Sam Nzau, backed the three players to re-ignite improved performances and turn around the club’s fortunes in the second leg.

 “We are delighted to add these three players of international experience to the team, and we are confident their presence can ignite improved performances. We needed to bring in experience to add steel to the squad,” said Nzau.

Ndzila has been signed from the Rwandese side Rayon Sports, while Akouala arrives from Algerian outfit US Biskra. Akai arrives from the Beninese club, Dadje FC, where he was the top scorer last season.

“I am delighted to be at Tusker. My ambition is to help the team rise from where it is currently. A striker is expected to score goals, and that is my ambition for the team,” Akai, who has also played for his home country's Hearts of Oak, said.

Ndzila is not new to the East African region, having played in Rwanda with Rayon Sports and their rivals APR. He also played for the Congo Brazzaville Under-20 team and was a starter for the champions, AS Otoho d’Oyo.

He comes back to Kenya for the second time, having played against Gor Mahia during the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup campaign. “I have good memories of this place, and I want to create more. It is an honour to join Tusker, and I am looking forward to helping the team,” said the shot stopper.

Ndzila is a two-time goalkeeper of the year in the Rwandese Premier League and was also named the CECAFA Kagame Cup goalkeeper of the year in 2024.

Leftback Akouala, 22, is keen to make an imprint in his first sojourn in the region, having played in Algeria straight from his native Brazzaville. “I am excited to be here, and I look forward to the challenge ahead. It is a new country with new challenges, but I hope to enjoy the journey.” He said.

The trio already had their first training session with the team on Monday and will be assessed by the coaching team over the next few days to ascertain their readiness for the weekend match against Shabana FC at Gusii Stadium.
