Alex Ayata Migosi, the main suspect in the killing of a woman and his two children in Marani, Kitutu Chache North in Kisii on Tuesday has been arraigned in a Kisii Law court
The prosecution, however, requested that the suspect be detained for ten more days to allow detectives to conclude investigations.
The 27-year-old had surrendered himself to police in Marani on Tuesday evening hours after the felony.
Villagers spoke of a frosty relationship between the suspect and the stepbrother over land before the incident.
He did not take a plea during the Wednesday morning appearance before the court.
Prosecutor Job Okello said they wanted more time so that the suspect could undergo a mental assessment.
Okello further argued that it would not be of good interest if the man were to be released because his life would be endangered.
"Your honour the suspect would be lynched if he is released on any terms," he said.
