Tusker
FC have raided fellow FKF Premier League side Ulinzi Stars and snapped up
midfielder Issa Lumumba.
Lumumba joins his former teammate at Ulinzi, winger Yakeen Muteheli, who joined the Brewers early on, just before the start of pre-season. Tusker has been bolstering the team ahead of the 2025/26 season and has signed at least 10 players.
Lumumba joins an already strong department, adding more depth and steel to the squad ahead of the new campaign. Lumumba has been a consistent performer for the soldiers, and he is expected to bring both energy and creativity into the Tusker squad.
Speaking after sealing the move, Lumumba, who has already started
training with his new teammate, expressed his excitement at joining the 13-time
Kenyan champions.
“I am very happy to be here and ready to give my
best. I want to help the team achieve its goals and also grow as a player. This
is a club with a lot of demands and a club which regularly competes for the
title, and any player would love to be in such an environment,” he said.
He added, “There is a lot of competition in my position and that is something that really excites me because I will grow both as a player and a person, and these guys will get the best out of me.”
Tusker head coach Charles Okere said Lumumba brings
a lot of experience to the team and will boost Tusker’s bid for the FKF Premier
League title.
“Issa is a player who will bring a lot to the
team. His experience in the league and his ability to control the midfield will
be very valuable for us as we head into the season. He compliments a lot on
what we have, and this gives us as coaches options to work with,” the coach
remarked.
