

National
champions St Joseph’s Boys Kitale (JOBO) booked a date with compatriots Musingu in the semi-finals of the ongoing Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA).
The Kenyan affair
will be a repeat of the national final, which ended 1-0 in favour of the Saints
at Mumias Sports Complex two weeks ago.
JOBO, popularly known as the Brown Saints, beat debutants Agai Mixed 3-1 at Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday evening to finish second in Group ‘A’. Musingu High defeated Rwanda’s Kicukiro 3-1 to top Pool ‘A’ while Butere Boys, who are an invitational team to the competition, finished second in the group. Butere Boys will play Uganda’s Bukedea Comprehensive School in the other semi-final.
In girls’ football, defending champions St. Noa will lock horns with Kawempe Muslim in Friday’s final at Bukhungu Stadium. St. Noa beat compatriots Amus College 1-0 to qualify for the final, while former champions Kawempe Muslim beat Kenya’s Arch-Bishop Njenga 4-2 in the other semi-final.
St Joseph’s Girls, Kitale, remained on course to retain their hockey title after thrashing Bweranyangi 7-0 at Mukumu Boys. They only need a win against Kakungulu Memorial to retain the title they won in Mbale, Uganda, last year.

Lusaka said, “The girls are ready to retain their title. So far, they have
played as per instructions.”
St Joseph’s leads the standings with 16 points from six games, while national champions Tigoi Girls are second, three points behind, and Kakungulu Memorial third with 12 points same as debutants Ng’iya. In other games, Tigoi beat Mwiki Girls 3-0 while Ng’iya Girls saw off Mushanga 5-0.
In the boys’
category, Uganda’s Kakungulu Memorial lead
the standings with 16 points, ahead of Kenya’s St Anthony’s Kitale with 14. St. Charles Lwanga are third also with 14 points, with an inferior goal
difference. National and East Africa
champions Musingu are fourth with nine points.
In Wednesday’s
games, Kakungulu beat M-Pesa Foundation 4-0 while St Anthony’s Kitale
humbled Kyadondo 6-0. St Charles Lwanga upset Musingu High 4-0
Elsewhere, Moi
Girls Kamusinga face defending champions Mbogo from Uganda after prevailing in their respective semis.
Moi Girls beat Kawanda 19-15 to qualify, while Mbogo defeated St Joseph’s Girls, Kitale, 23-20 in the other semi.
In boys’
handball, St Luke’s Kimilili will face a hard task against Bombo Army from
Uganda in the semi-finals on Thursday.
Another
Kenyan side, Highway Secondary, will play defending champions Adegi from
Rwanda. Kimilili coach Fernwick Opicho said, “We are still in contention for
the title. Our only option in the semi-final is a win,” said the
tactician.
In
volleyball, the battle for the girls’ title will be an all-Kenyan affair.
Regional champions Kesogon will play Soweto Academy in the semis, while national
champions Kwanthanze High will be up against Bishop Sulumeti.
Cheptil High face defending champions St Luc from Burundi in
the boys semi-finals, while Bukedea Comprehensive will battle fellow Ugandans
Namugongo.
Uganda
continued with their dominance in netball. Defending champions St Mary’s
Kitende face compatriots Buddo in Thursday’s final. Kitende beat St Noa
59-32 to qualify for the final, while Buddo saw off Hamdan Muslim 46-38.
Kenya’s defending
champions, Oyugi Ogango, settled for sixth place. The three-time
Kenyan champions beat compatriots St Joseph’s Girls Kitale 56-33 in a classification
game, while Bukokholo finished seventh after a 47-37 win over Vwawa.
